Thom-Arne Norheim has been in the aviation technical industry his entire career, starting in 1997 as an apprentice aircraft mechanic for SAS. Since then, he has spent the past 22 years with great passion, employed in various positions under Technical Operations, within prominent airlines in Scandinavia.
Graduating as an aircraft mechanic in 1999 and as aircraft sheet metal mechanic in 2003, he became one of the first approved multiskilled mechanics with two government-approved degrees. He later graduated as Aircraft Licensed Engineer on the McDonell Douglas MD-80 in 2006 and continued onto the Boeing 737-3/4/500, 737-6/7/800 and Airbus A319/320/321 IAE V2500 Engine on his JAR Part 66 license.
From 2007, Thom-Arne was employed in SAS as supervisor for the production management team based in Oslo, responsible for conducting base and heavy maintenance on the Boeing 737 fleet until services were outsourced in 2011. During this period, he studied part time “Technology Production Management” and “Total Quality Management”, at the University of Bergen. He then followed the SAS aircraft fleet to the external locations where maintenance was accomplished as Technical Representative for airline. Between 2011 and 2016 he was stationed in Shanghai, Chengdu, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Malta, Sofia, Ljubljana, Budapest, Tallinn and Shannon, experiencing and working with several of the biggest MRO actors in Europe and the Eastern hemisphere.
After spending some time traveling, he returned Scandinavia and SAS Headquarters at Frösundavik Stockholm, as Operative Head of SAS Tech OPS Maintenance Control, for 18 months before he settled down with his wife and two kids back home in Eidsvoll in September 2017. His last two years were operated out of SAS Tech Oslo, initially as Production Line Manager for the Airbus A320 NEO onboard satellite WIFI modification program and for his last year, as Production Manager for Technical handling of all external customers that were contracted to SAS, as well as the Deputy Head of Production for SAS Tech Norway.
In August 2019, Thom-Arne joined OSM Aviation and will be fundamental in the launch of offering Technical services to our clients.
